Among the famous monuments in D.C., including the phallic-shaped obelisk Washington monument, and those along Washington, D.C.’s National Mall, a new bronze “memorial” depicting human feces has been erected, and authorities say they will not remove it for at least a week.

“The Resolute Desk,” DC’s newest tourism destination, was unveiled on Thursday a few streets west of the Capitol.

In what blatantly appears to be a jab at former President Donald Trump and the protesters who breached the House of Representatives on January 6th, 2021, it shows a large, soft-serve poop on top of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s desk.

“This memorial honors the brave men and women who broke into the United States Capitol on January 6th, 2021 to loot, urinate, and defecate throughout those hallowed halls in order to overturn an election,” stated the artist’s message on the satirical plaque, which rests on the base of the statue.

“Disgusting in so many ways,” remarked historian Dr. Tiffany Wayne, speaking on the new installation.

“This goes beyond tasteless and borders on obscene,” said a social media user.

However, a permit submitted to the U.S. National Park Service reveals that the statue is not only permitted to be on the National Mall, but will remain there until the end of the month, according to NBC Washington.

Residents in the D.C. area and social media users nationwide have insisted that the mockery of an installation was not only funded by taxpayers through the U.S. National Park Service, but also demonstrates that public officials are actively using funds to make a juvenile joke while denouncing the GOP presidential nominee, even though he asked his supporters to “remain peaceful” and respect law enforcement on that day.

“No violence!” Trump posted on January 6th, 2021. “Remember we are the Party of Law & Order.”

According to the permit, the art piece was made by Julia Jimenez-Pyzik of Civic Crafted LLC.

“This desk represents the heart of democracy, where decisions are made, voices are heard, and the future is shaped,” the permit states. “More than just a place for work, it is a testament to the ideals of transparency, accountability, and representation.”

“When rioters broke in to destroy these ideals, this desk stands firm, so too must the principles of equality, justice, and freedom that it represents,” the permit continues.

Additionally, the artist was given permission to erect another statue, titled “Tiki Torch,” which will be placed at Freedom Plaza on Pennsylvania Avenue between the Capitol and the White House on October 28th.

According to the permit, that artwork shows a hand coming out of a stone base.

The Park Service claimed that when issuing permits it “does not consider the content of the message being presented,” and that “as federal land and America’s premier civic space, the National Mall serves as a forum where citizens can exercise their Constitutional rights to speech and assembly.”
