With eight days left until the presidential election, Republicans are seeing record numbers of voter registrations, early voting and absentee ballot requests in key battleground states.

Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Whatley told One America News that he is confident in the number of ballots that have already been cast.

“I am very optimistic, particularly with these battleground states,” Whatley said. “We’re seeing record numbers of Republicans that are voting early, that are voting by mail, and we know we’re gonna have a great day on election day. We feel very good about where we are.”

According to Whatley, more still needs to be done in order to win the election.

“We need to make sure that everybody who votes knows that they are not done,” Whatley said.

“They need to go talk to five or 10 other voters to understand how important this election is. We need to get them to commit to voting as well,” Whatley continued. “Because when those people go to vote, that’s what’s going to make the difference.”

Republicans also scored a major win over the weekend when the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that a Mississippi election law was preempted by federal Law that says all ballots had to be in by election night. Still the Circuit Court’s decision does not have an immediate effect on the election, but it does help to pave the way for a case to go up to the Supreme Court.

Whatley says this ruling will help to have a transparent election cycle.

“That’s a big win. What we want to do is make sure that we have a fair, accurate, secure, transparent election cycle. We can’t go beyond election day for three days or five days or seven days for ballots to continue to come in. We want [ballots] in by election day,” Whatley said.

Whatley argues courts across the country are, “reconfirmed the rule of law that we’re going to have states clean up their voter rolls, we’re gonna have voter ID in place, we’re going to have basic protections on mail-in balloting.”

According to a RealClearPolitics poll from October 28, 2024  former President Trump is polling ahead of Vice President Harris in all seven swing states.
