RFK Jr. lays out health vision while chowing down at Steak ‘n Shake

Kennedy joined Fox News’s Sean Hannity to dine at the popular burger joint for an interview, the first half of which premiered on Monday. He praised the recent move by the company to ditch cooking its fries in vegetable oil and instead use “100% all-natural beef tallow.”

Kennedy is a major proponent against seed oils, blaming them for much of the growth of chronic diseases.

“Seed Oil is one of the components of processed foods, and that is all the science. Ultra-processed foods are like our principal culprit, and this extraordinary explosion in the epidemic we have with chronic disease… When my uncle was president, 3% of Americans had chronic disease — today: 60%,” he said.

“We have the best medical system in the world. We are poisoning ourselves and it’s coming from, principally, these ultra processed foods,” Kennedy continued. “And what we’re trying to do, and President [Donald] Trump wants us to have radical transparency and to incentivize companies like this one to switch to traditional ingredients like beef tallow.”

After he gave his perspective, the waiter delivered the duo’s food, at which point Kennedy began eating the fries.

He then thanked Steak ‘n Shake for switching to beef tallow, and acknowledged the memes they shared about him.

“Steak and Shake has been great. We’re very grateful for them for RFK-ing the French fries. They turned me into a verb,” Kennedy said.

The HHS secretary also acknowledged other restaurants that had made the switch.

“Outback, Sweet Creams, Buffalo Wild Wings. They’ve all made the switch, or are in the transition. To make the switch, we want to do everything that we can to incentivize these companies to be transparent, to switch over some ultra-processed food, and to be part of this movement tonight, to make America healthy,” he said.

Steak ‘n Shake has had a warm relationship with Kennedy, posting memes about him on their social media page. On Monday, they posted a picture of the HHS secretary at their store, thanking him for visiting.
